10 Best Business Laptops Under $500 To Work Efficiently

Erica Douglass

If you have to deal with routine office work, you don’t necessarily need laptops with high specs. Business laptops with high specs are essentially needed for demanding tasks, especially for technical jobs.

Most of the office work (that we often do, i.e., dealing with spreadsheets, emails, clients, teams, SaaS and CRMs, and multitasking, etc.) can easily be handled on cheap business laptops that are usually available for under $500.

It’s a no-brainer—if you have the budget, go for high-quality business laptops. And if you’re a small business owner, you should prefer laptops specifically designed for small business owners. But if your needs are more casual and you’re not dealing with intensive workloads, the following laptops under $500 are excellent choices.

Ideal specs for business and work:

  • Processor: Core i5 or higher (i7 is the best processor for a business laptop)
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4 or higher
  • Storage: 512GB SSD or higher
  • Display: 14 inches or higher
  • Webcam: good quality
  • OS: Windows or iMac doesn’t matter.

Lastly, this list doesn’t contain MacBooks. If you love Apple laptops, then here are affordable MacBook options; these MacBooks are renewed but in very good condition.

Now let’s discuss the best business laptops under $500.

Review

The Dell Inspiron 3511 is one of the best budget machines, specifically for students and professionals out there. It is a budget-friendly option and offers exceptional performance, which is ideal for office work and productivity.

It can run a wide range of applications, such as MS Office for report writing, data analysis, and PowerPoint presentations.

Moreover, it can smoothly run Video and Audio conference apps, such as Zoom, MS Teams, and Google Meet, for seamless communication and coordination.

With the Intel Core i5-1135G7 at its heart, this Dell Inspiron 3511 can confidently run Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic 2024 for everyday photo edits and batch-processing tasks.

Moreover, 1 TB of storage handles 250,000 HD photos, 500 Full HD movies, and 200,000 songs, along with thousands of large project files (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).

The same quad-core Tiger Lake chip also handles DaVinci Resolve 19’s 1080p timeline playback without dropping frames.

It also comes with the touchscreen option. One can easily toggle between the touchscreen and touchless mode with the help of a mouse click.

As far as the hardware is concerned, it has a sturdy build, which is also soft to touch and looks amazing.

Apart from this, many other features stand out – Its 15.6” full HD display, which is clear and bright with amazing graphics. Additionally, it is equipped with multiple port options for peripheral device connectivity.

It weighs around 3.7 lbs, which comfortably falls into the lightweight category. Mostly, students will find this product useful, as they are always on the go, but professionals, too, can carry it around without slowing themselves down.

So, who would benefit the most from this laptop?

  • This machine is perfect for tech-savvy students who perform research and coding. It is also decent for multimedia options such as Photoshop, illustrations, and graphic design. So, if you are a student, this laptop is more bang for your buck.
  • Professionals who need to multitask and have 30+ of tabs open- this laptop with a fast 2.5 GHz processor has got it covered for you. You can run MS Word, PowerPoint, and also continue with web browsing, simultaneously.
  • Small business owners can also benefit from this machine, as it can easily handle CRM and data analysis tools. It has a 1 TB SSD that can store a huge amount of data and keep a record of all business records as well.

Overall, it is a decent laptop for everyday use. However, there is a catch – It has a low battery life, which lasts for a maximum of 4 to 5 hours. It is not ideal for those who work remotely and travel a lot, and may find it annoying always having to plug their laptop into the charging port.

Brief review

We recently tested the Lenovo V15 laptop. It is a decent machine that offers multiple useful features, especially for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

It has an Intel Dual-Core Celeron processor, which is ideal for a light workload for a business with a few employees, but also for small and medium-sized enterprise business owners.

It has 32 GB of RAM, which is enough memory to comfortably run a browser with 10-15 tabs and 20 full HD Zoom windows opened simultaneously.

So, rest assured to process the data of several hundreds of employees, huge inventory files, handling emails, and spreadsheets.

Moreover, it has 1 TB of storage that’s sufficient for roughly 250,000 photos, 500 hours of HD video, or 6.5 million business documents without requiring additional storage in the near term.

With a 15” Full HD display, it excels when it comes to screen responsiveness. You can watch YouTube videos, attend online classes, or review documents, just do not expect ultra-vivid colors or a premium display.

This budget laptop is equipped with an Intel Dual-Core Celeron that can also handle light graphic design work, such as logo design, brochures, and planners – ideal for solopreneurs who are on a limited budget and may often have to multitask.

It has a decent battery life of around 6 – 7 hours, which saves you the hassle of constantly plugging it into the socket and adds flexibility to remote workers who work from internet cafes.

The build is quite ordinary, nothing special. It has a sleek look and is lightweight to carry around. The display is decent and adequate at best, not very bright, so it’s great for an indoor setup.

On the flip side, the absence of a touchscreen and camera quality a downsides to this purchase. But, if you are not concerned with this particular feature, this product is a great value for money.

Brief review

We got our hands on the newest model of Lenovo IdeaPad 2025, and found it to be quite a useful product for school, work, or simply everyday use. It got all the basics covered and, quite frankly, a few extras that are a bonus for this kind of affordability.

This machine is ideal for everyone, especially freelancers who are just getting started with their online gigs and need an affordable option.

Let’s first talk about the processor. It comes with an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processor, which is just entry-level. It will get you through the usual web browsing, spreadsheet, and video calls on Teams and Google Meet, and light multitasking without any hassle.

However, it might not be as fast as the higher versions, such as Core i5 and i7.

The RAM is 24 GB,which is adequate for smoothly running multiple tasks at the same time. That means, you can open 40+ tabs along with a video call or two in the background without any lag.

As for the display, the screen is a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen – sounds fancy, right??? It is clear enough for browsing, streaming, or simply working, but do not expect something extraordinary here.

The integrated Intel UHD at 1,280×720 is quite sufficient for everyday graphics, such as web streaming, slideshows, and light gaming

It has got solid ports – pretty much everything needed for plugging accessories such as USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and a headphone Jack. It lacks USB-C, which is quite a downside, but it has most of the ports covered.

Moving to the external appearance, the build is plastic but feels good to touch. It is lightweight, around 3.5 lbs, and can be carried around without any trouble, perfect for students and freelancers- it wouldn’t slow you down on the go.

Brief Review

Whether you are a casual user or a professional, this machine is one size fits all for its customers.

Acer Aspire 3 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor. It has 8 cores and handles resource-intensive tasks like a pro. The chip is energy-efficient and cools down easily without disrupting the workflow.

On top of that, TechPowerUp also witnessed, hardware virtualization is available on the Ryzen 7 5700U, which makes virtual machines run way smoother. It also supports Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) and the newer AVX2 standard, boosting performance for calculation-heavy apps—though not AVX-512.

It is perfect for casual everyday use, like web surfing, note-taking and document editing, and reviewing.

The look is professional and simple. It’s sleek and lightweight, so it perfectly slips into a usual office or school bag.

Display is on point – A full 15.6-inch Full HD display is bright and clear, supplemented with an anti-glaring coating to keep reflections at bay. If you are working near a window or under fluorescent light, it’s easy on the eyes.

One feature that stands out the most is WiFi 6, which means faster internet and no buffering during video streaming. In a crowded home network with intense traffic, it works wonders.

If you’re reading documents or editing text with the screen at 40–50% brightness, expect 5–7 hours before needing the power cable, however, that drops to 4 hours in case of long video calls on Zoom or Teams.

It also comes with accessories such as a DealExpress bundle. It may not be a necessity, but it saves you the hassle of getting spares from different websites and provides a single platform for all your shopping needs.

Brief Review

If you are looking for a laptop that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg, this one is a perfect fit for you. Do not let the price fool you; even with its affordability, it hasn’t compromised on the quality, functionality, and processing speed.

This one especially impressed us with its solid performance. Despite its simple features, it delivers on speed and reliability.

Let’s start with the processor. It is an 11th Gen Core i5 with 4.4 GHz and 10 cores, which means that it supports Adobe Photoshop batch edits and switching between coding environments with negligible lag.

According to the system requirements of most business apps, for example, QuickBooks, this machine easily goes beyond that. It’s more than capable of handling any business tasks with ease.

Students, office goers, and freelancers would benefit the most from this product. Its multi-core processor lets you open several tabs, supports light video editing and graphic designing as well – great for the creative minds out there.

Moving towards the display, it’s a 15.6” HD screen, which is clear and sharp and feels easy on the eyes. It’s not anything fancy, but one can easily stream videos, browse, and work on documents.

Complemented by 16 GB RAM, with less than 10 seconds boot time, and makes switching between tasks much easier. Moreover, a 512 GB SSD storage provides sufficient space for all types of files.

The UHD Graphics are not ideal for gaming and heavy video editing. However, it is okayish for casual media use.

The laptop also delivers on the connectivity. It has all the essential ports, including HDMI, USB 3.0, Headphone/Microphone Jack, etc. Apart from that, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth provide fast and reliable connections, which are ideal for audio calls.

Review:

HP products never disappoint – And this one has been labelled as a workhorse.

We tested this one and found it to be a highly efficient machine with practicality at its heart. Although it doesn’t really offer fancy specs like an HD display or a high-end processor, its claim on memory and storage is highly promising.

People with small businesses and students- Hear me out..Try your hand at this one.

A 32 GB RAM for fast processing and a massive 1 TB storage is a great deal for a meagre price of $438. Whether you are a student who conducts research and has multiple tabs open or a professional who switches between tasks, this one doesn’t slow you down. It saves time and is built for productivity.

Users are not that thrilled at the Core i3 processor, which is just adequate. It will get you through MS Office, video, and audio chats, but wouldn’t come through for heavy graphic designing and video editing.

Display is not HD; another flipside- but it gets the job done for basic tasks like web browsing, streaming, writing, or Zoom calls.

It just has one USB 3.0 port, so it offers limited connectivity options and has basic Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, which is nothing extraordinary.

HP Laptop 17

  • Wireless: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) + Bluetooth
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home

Pros:

  • A 17-inch display offers more screen space
  • A powerful Ryzen processor perfectly handles productivity with ease
  • A decent battery life of 7 hours
  • Clean and modern look

Cons:

  • Doesn’t include dedicated graphics
  • A bit heavier machine
  • Doesn’t include optical drive

Review:

This HP 17 laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, clocking up to 4.3 GHz. Quite responsive. Easily manages a mid-level workload, coupled with a DDR5 RAM that runs at 5500 MHz, which is quite decent for managing large files or simply jumping from one app to the other without any lag.

With 32 GB RAM, you can leave 20 full‑HD Zoom windows, 25+ browser tabs, and background apps (chat, antivirus, Spotify) active without swapping to SSD.

It easily handles daily home-office tasks and offers responsive performance for spreadsheet work, browser-based SaaS tools, and light photo editing.

As far as the storage is concerned, it comes with a 512 GB SSD, giving you plenty of space for large files and also multimedia. Stream videos and download them without having to worry about memory and storage.

The visuals are sharp and bright. It runs on Integrated AMD Radeon graphics. It won’t manage high-end gaming, but it works fine for casual browsing, photos, or light-weight editing.

Now the aesthetics are not that impressive-  It has a typical polished silver chassis that makes it look professional. It is reasonably portable with a 17-inch 4.2 lbs machine, and is easy to carry around – perfect for travellers and remote workers.

It comes with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity, making it an ideal choice if your work involves downloading large files or software without compromising on speed.

Battery life is also fine; it lasts 7 hours and gets you through the day pretty much easily, without reaching for a charger. It may deplete faster if multiple background apps run simultaneously, but that is not really a dealbreaker.

Review:

We are in awe of this beautiful and sturdy machine that delivers what it promises. Lenovo V15 is a laptop you would want to get your hands on.

A perfect blend of splendid aesthetics, great performance, and robust functionality. It’s a great value for money, owing to its ease of use and added features.

Battery life is not the most favorite feature of customers. Many report battery dissipating faster than the hours claimed by the manufacturers. However, if you are someone who rarely travels or doesn’t need to carry a laptop everywhere, it wouldn’t bother you much.

In terms of graphics, the laptop is equipped with integrated AMD Radeon graphics. It is not quite suitable for gamers as it doesn’t have dedicated graphics cards (GPUs), but runs everyday visuals quite smoothly.

The screen is a Full HD one that comes with 1080 resolution. It gives you enough screen space to work on documents and enjoy a video side by side.

Its wireless performance meets the modern demand as it comes with WiFi (802.11ac) and Bluetooth. Additionally, it has a USB 3.0 port, but its availability also depends on the model and make.

Talking about convenience, it weighs around 3.7 lbs, which comfortably falls into the lightweight category. Mostly, students will find this product useful, as they are always on the go, but professionals, too, can carry it around without slowing themselves down.

Review:

This HP Elite 840 G7 is a decent machine for this kind of price. It’s renewed and available under $300 only. It’s not too extravagant but delivers on its performance, making it a solid pick for work, study, or anything in between.

It comes with pre-installed Windows 11 Pro with added features like BitLocker Encryption, remote desktop, and better account control. It boots up quickly and is quite faster compared to the older versions. If you are using this for work, it’s a bonus.

The 14-inch HD screen is big enough to work comfortably. It offers a great balance between viewing and editing work documents and binge-watching your favorite Netflix show with your friends. Colors are sharp too- hold up well for everyday viewing.

One of the stand-out features of the HP EliteBook is the availability of multiple ports. It comes with USB port 3.1, USB-C and HDMI ports. Users are gushing over the inclusion of the USB-C with charging that adds versatility through a single connection, often removing the need for multiple ports for data transfer, power delivery, and display connectivity.

Graphics are the standard Intel UHD integrated, which means they are fine for everyday use but are not built for serious graphic-heavy tasks.

If you have added your business laptop in the cart, you might like to know how to make your business laptop last longer.

Budget business laptop buying guide

When your primary purpose is business, you definitely focus on specifications that would enhance your productivity in business.

You can also focus on upgradeability and durability for long-term use.

Exploring business tasks, we see that everything is web-based: bookkeeping, invoicing, project tools, business CRMs, data storage, email, and communications systems (voice).

So we decided to discuss how you should buy a business laptop and what should be the specification on your business laptop. And why?

In a business computer, the following specifications play a vital role.

  • Display
  • Memory
  • Storage
  • Processor
  • Keyboard & Touchpad

And if you are a totally cloud-based business, then memory would play a significant role.

Display

The display helps you in productivity. You are more productive when the display size is a highly suitable one.

The most suitable screen size is around 15 inches. But some people prefer even larger screens. Such screens are bad for portability. And that’s why we never recommend it for a business laptop.

Sometimes, we get great features, but the display is lower than our requirements. In that case, it’s best to attach one of the cheap business monitors to that computer.

Memory

No matter whether you are cloud-based or not. Memory could be an essential thing in productivity.

For example, using third-party apps, like Hubspot, Zoho, or PipeDrive, or using your laptop for all such business tasks. In all such situations, you must be doing many tasks at once.

You might need to open multiple apps and tabs at the same.

In that case, if you are short on memory, you will get help multiple times.

Your memory handles to perform many tasks at a time.

That’s why memory should be your main focus, and you should not give a try below 8GB RAM.

Even in memory, there are some types.

DDR SDRAM is a fast memory type, and it should be your priority. However, traditional RAMs are also enough for small businesses.

That’s why we have tried to add business laptops with the best possible memory so that you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.

Ideally, you should never buy a business laptop with less than 8GB of RAM. So, make sure your laptop has over 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

Storage

Storage is another key factor that matters in a business laptop.

It’s not as important as memory. But in many cases, small businesses don’t use cloud hosting and want to use laptop storage.

Otherwise, storage does matter.

Because there are many things to store, it could be your images, videos, and software to install. In all such situations, storage should be at least 512GB.

We initially mentioned 256GB as a minimum requirement, but that’s for those who use cloud hosting for storage.

Processor:

The processor is the brain of a computer.

Everything you do goes through the processor.

So it’s essential to see which processor your business computer has and how fast it is.

If you get a speed of more than 3 GHz, then it’s good.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The keyboard and touchpad also help you enhance your productivity.

For example, having a hard keyboard and an insensitive touchpad will ruin your day.

So it’s slightly less important but still significant in a business laptop.

What is the best laptop for business under $500?

Any laptop from any well-reputed brand that has an i5 processor, 8GB DDR4 memory, 512GB SSD storage, business ports, and fast Wi-Fi is the best laptop for under $500.
